چکیده

The antigenicity of several well established Moloney virus-induced transplantable leukemias was studied. Resistance was developed by pretreatment of isologous mice with x-radiated tumor tissue. In general, the neoplasms grew more rapidly in preirradiated mice (400 r) than in normal mice, and at low inoculum concentrations a higher percentage of tumors was observed in the pre-irradiated animals. Different Moloney virus-induced leukemias were shown to cross-react. The resistance devel oped by pretreatment with x-radiated tumor suspensions of Moloney virus-induced leukemias did not inhibit the growth of a leukemia induced by the Rauscher virus. In BALB/c mice infected with Moloney virus transient interference with the growth of an isologous Moloney virus-induced leukemia was observed.

Induction of resistance against the transplantation of leukemias induced by Rauscher virus.

A state of relative resistance against the transplantation of isografts of leukemias induced by the Rauscher virus (RV) was developed in HALB/*' an(l CDFi mice by pretreatment with X-irradiated tumor cells. In mice pretreated with cells from 1 tumor, significant cross-protection was obtained for all other RV-induced tumors tested and for some tumors induced by Moloney virus, but not for leukemi...

Tumor-specific transplantation antigens in reticulum cell sarcomas and lymphomas induced by the friend virus complex.

The reticulum cell sarcomas induced by Friend leukemia virus (FLV) and the lymphomas induced by the Friend virus-associated lymphatic leukemia virus (LLV) have been investigated for both their antigenic relationships and the presence in them of common tumor-specific transplantation antigens. Since noninfectious reticulum cell sarcomas contain ing the Friend virus genome were available, this was...

Cyclic AMP-induced p53 Destabilization is Independent of CREB in pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Cells

Elevated cAMP levels in B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL) cells attenuate the doxorubicin-induced p53 accumulation and protect cells against apoptosis. cAMP responsive element binding protein (CREB) is a cAMP-stimulated transcription factor that regulates genes whose deregulated expression cooperatein oncogenesis. In the present study, we investigated the role of CREB on i...

The symbiotic effect of Piriformospora indica on induced resistance against bakanae disease in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

The root endophytic fungus, Piriformospora indica, colonizes roots of a large number of plant species including Cereals and Brasicaceae. There are several reports indicating that P. indica protects roots from different path- ogens. In the present study, rice plants were pre-inoculated with P. indica and were subsequently infected with Fusarium proliferatum, as the causal agent of root rot and c...

Molecular and Serological Evaluation of Bovine Leukemia Virus in Water Buffaloes of Southern Iran

BACKGROUND: Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is an oncogenic deltaretrovirus causing a persistent lifelong infection of B lymphocytes. In addition to the domestic cattle, the virus can also infect water buffaloes. OBJECTIVES: Recent investigations have demonstrated the increasing prevalence of BLV infection among cattle population in Iran. Large popul...
